Service · Interpreter for international business missions

An interpreter by your side, in any room, in any country

Trade missions, board meetings, due diligence, negotiation rounds — when communication needs to be exact and the setting doesn't call for a booth, the right format is a liaison interpreter: a professional seated at the table, working in consecutive or whispered (chuchotage) mode. STIB covers both directions — Brazilian executives on a mission abroad, and foreign executives visiting Brazil.

Two directions

Your mission, both ways

Brazil → abroad

Brazilian executives and delegations on a business mission abroad — trade rounds, international trade shows, technical visits, meetings with partners and investors outside Brazil.

  • Interpreter accompanies the delegation throughout the schedule
  • Advance preparation with the mission's itinerary and topics
  • Language pair matched to the destination country

Abroad → Brazil

Foreign executives and delegations visiting Brazil — due diligence, negotiations, industrial plant visits, meetings with Brazilian partners and regulators.

  • Interpreter receives the delegation in any city in the country
  • Command of local legal, financial, and regulatory terminology
  • Coordinated with the visit's local schedule

How it works

Liaison interpreting, not booth interpreting

This format differs from conference simultaneous interpretation. There's no booth, no broadcast to an audience — the interpreter sits at the table or stands beside the executive, working in one of two modes depending on context: consecutive (the speaker talks, pauses, the interpreter renders the segment) or whispered interpreting/chuchotage (the interpreter speaks quietly into the listener's ear, simultaneously with the original speech, with no equipment at all).

For slightly larger groups that still don't justify a booth — a delegation of several executives on a technical visit, for example — a portable wireless kit replaces individual whispering without requiring any infrastructure. See more under equipment rental.

Interpreter profile

  • High-level vocabulary — command of corporate finance, governance, compliance, M&A terminology, and industry-specific jargon relevant to the meeting.
  • Corporate presence — business attire, discretion, and conduct suited to an executive setting.
  • Confidentiality — sensitive agendas (mergers, confidential negotiations, non-public information) handled under confidentiality.
  • Schedule flexibility — available to accompany the mission for as long as needed, including transfers between engagements.

Frequently asked questions

About interpreters for international business missions

What's the difference between a liaison interpreter and a conference interpreter?

A liaison interpreter works without a booth, next to the executive, in consecutive or whispered mode, and follows the schedule wherever it takes place. A conference interpreter works in an acoustically insulated booth, broadcasting to an audience at an event. See also conference interpretation.

Does the interpreter travel abroad with the delegation?

Yes — for Brazilian missions abroad, STIB can arrange an interpreter who accompanies the delegation for the full trip, including transfers between engagements.

Do you serve foreign delegations in any city in Brazil?

Yes, with in-house logistics in the main Brazilian capitals and coverage of other locations depending on the scope of the visit.

Can we sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA)?

Yes. Sensitive agendas — mergers, corporate negotiations, non-public information — can be handled under a specific confidentiality agreement, as required by the client.

How far in advance should we book?

Ideally three to four weeks, especially for international missions that require travel arrangements for the interpreter. Urgent requests are assessed based on availability.
